Programs honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout the month of January

The Pittsford Community Library will host a variety of Town programs celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in January, including our "MLK Living the Dream" series. See below for details and be sure to save the dates! The programs are free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. Movie & Discussion: Another Way of Living

In the early 1960's, Robert Simon set out to build a new kind of walkable suburban community that integrated citizens across racial, economic, and religious divides. His vision was realized in Reston, Virginia. Discussion facilitated by Kevin and Linda Beckford. Registration required.

MLK Youth Choir, Spoken Word & Speech Reenactment

Enjoy music from a youth gospel choir, a spoken word performance, and a reenactment of the famous words of MLK. All ages welcome. Registration required.

Alice’s Ordinary People: Film Screening
Thursday, January 6; 6:30-8:00pm

Learn about the life of Alice Tregay—a woman who stood against injustice. Her story spans from the marches of Dr. King to the election of Barack Obama, and her contribution to the field of politics connects the two. Join us on January 13 for a discussion with the filmmaker.

Alice’s Ordinary People: Discussion

Independent filmmaker Craig Dudnick leads a discussion about his documentary, Alice’s Ordinary People. All are encouraged to view the documentary, which will be screened at PCL on January 6 and is also available on Kanopy, prior to the event. Registration required.

MLK Day Stories and Craft - CANCELED due to severe weather

Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at PCL! Hear stories and create artwork that will be displayed in the Children’s Room. For grades Pre-K - 3. Parents and siblings are welcome. Registration required.
