North Main Street Bridge Closed as of June 1 for NYSDOT work

Bridge Closure webicon graphic

Bridge scheduled to reopen August 1
The NYS Department of Transportation will close the North Main Street Canal Bridge as of Wednesday, June 1, 2022 to do a complete resurfacing of the bridge deck and sidewalks. The bridge is scheduled to reopen on August 1. Schoen Place will remain open to traffic during this time and the Canal Trail will be open as well.

While the improvements are most welcome, the project work will require traffic detours and may add some time to your usual commute. You may need to plan accordingly if you are driving in the area; please take your time and be aware of DOT roadwork crew members, pedestrians and cyclists.

Northbound traffic along NY-96 (Main Street/East Avenue) will be detoured using Monroe Avenue (NY-31), I-490, and Fairport Road (NY-31F). Southbound traffic will be detoured using French Road and Fairport Road. A pedestrian detour will utilize Monroe Avenue and Schoen Place. Questions or concerns about the project can be directed to Kevin Cannan, Engineer in Charge by email at mailto:Kevin.Cannan@dot.ny.gov.
