Catch the fun at the 26^th Annual Kids' Trout Fishing Derby. This year’s Derby will be held Saturday, May 13^th in Powder Mills Park, 154 Park Road, Pittsford, NY 14534, at the Powder Horn Lodge in conjunction with the Town of Pittsford Parks & Rec Department and the Monroe County Parks Department.

It is sponsored and run by the Rotary Club of Pittsford, and local businesses underwrite sponsorships as well. All proceeds benefit the Reidman Fish Hatchery, a treasure within Monroe County’s Parks System. The Hatchery offers tours and educational programs while promoting conservation and the sport of fishing. Over 200 children have woken up early in past years and brought their parents with them to participate and, in many cases, be inspired by learning how to fish.

The event is FREE. Registration is available online at https://bit.ly/2P7z5Wz prior to the event, or in person starting at 8:00 am on Derby Day, exclusively for kids 15 years of age and younger.

The fishing contest will run between 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Entrants will be given a complimentary bag with hooks, sinkers, and bobbers; and trophies will be awarded for largest catch in several age brackets! Door prizes will also be awarded! Complimentary hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts will be provided.

The Fish Hatchery at Powder Mills Park will be stocking fish for this event. Donations will be accepted on their behalf. In addition, special thanks are due to The Riedman Foundation for funding and operating the Hatchery and making the Pittsford Rotary Club Fishing Derby possible.

This is the 26^th year that The Rotary Club of Pittsford will host the Kids’ Trout Fishing Tournament. Rotarian and fishing enthusiast Harry Womeldorf organized the club’s first “Kids Derby” in 1997. Since then, over 3000 children have taken part in this Western New York event. The emphasis is on experiencing the adventure and excitement of fishing with family members of all ages.
