Message from Supervisor Smith:

The Town’s Director of Technology, Joy Brown, has been working diligently to research, set up and assure security for online public access to our Town Board meetings during this period when the Board must meet remotely.

Thanks to Joy, you can view our Town Board meeting next Tuesday, April 7 on Zoom, or you can access it by telephone. ASL interpretation will be part of the video conference.

I’m so deeply grateful to Joy. Setting this up properly for a municipal meeting and for subsequent broadcast on cable Channel 12 has been a much bigger production than you or I downloading Zoom at home to meet our friends online.

We were all set up to provide public access to the meeting by traditional telephone conference call. With apps like Zoom bursting into prominence in the last couple of weeks, Joy went above and beyond, to re-do everything to permit online video accessible to our residents. This on top of the unusually demanding workload she and her staff have been handling just to get everyone connected from home in order to keep our essential work going.

I’m proud to be part of an organization where I get to call Joy Brown a colleague. The same goes for all of our dedicated Town employees.

Supervisor Bill Smith
