Recreation Director

The Town of Pittsford has an opening for a Recreation Director. This is a full time, professional position with responsibility for strategic planning of programming suitable to the interests and needs of the community. This position involves leadership, management of the facility, and supervision of six full time recreation personnel. The candidate must be capable of promoting the vision for long-range development of recreation to the community.
The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, develop and maintain professional relationships with staff and the public. The candidate must have experience in customer relations, project management, budgeting, and the ability to evaluate present and future needs for recreation.
This is a competitive civil service title that requires a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or a closely related field, plus three years full time experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity with responsibility for planning and implementing recreation programs.

VanHuysen Senior Center - Part Time

The Town of Pittsford has an opening for a part-time position at the VanHuysen Senior Center. This position is scheduled 20 hours per week year round with additional time required for the vacation coverage of other staff members. Flexibility in scheduling is an important aspect of this position.
This position is responsible for working directly with seniors, volunteers and staff in planning, organizing and supervising programs that encompass the recreational, emotional and health needs of this age group. Additionally, this candidate is expected to drive the Elderberry Express van to assist in pick up of members for the nutrition program.
The candidate must possess effective people skills, and experience and knowledge of working with senior citizens.

Child Care Center Aide

This employee assists in the daily operation of the Child Care Center, including interacting with the children in free play and structured settings, setting up lunch and snack times and reading and facilitating activities. The candidate must be flexible and punctual, have experience working with children ages 10 months to 6 years of age and be able to handle all situations involved with the child care field.
Hours of the employment are subject to change and include: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30am to 2:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Rate of pay is $8.00 per hour.

Week nights and weekend hours are available.
The pay range for Lifeguard positions start at $7.25 per hour.
• Lifeguard certification is required.
The pay range for Swimming Instructor positions start at $8.50 per hour.
• Certification as a lifeguard or water safety instructor is preferred.
