Public Works Administration

What We Do

The Town of Pittsford's Department of Public Works is comprised of the following entities: Highway, Sewers, Parks, Building Maintenance, Planning, Zoning, and Development, and Code Enforcement. Public Works Administration handles much of the budgetary and planning aspects for projects within the Town of Pittsford. Through this consolidated approach we are able to deliver services to the residents of Pittsford in an efficient and timely fashion.

FAQs

I’m not sure whom to call?

If it's not clear whom you need to speak to within the Department of Public Works, feel free to call (585) 248-6250.

Who collects garbage in Pittsford?

Garbage is picked up by private collectors. Property owners are responsible for arranging for regular collection from their premises and for providing sufficient receptacles. Special arrangements must be made through a private hauler regarding collection of used tires or additional household items other than trash (such as fencing, bedding, rugs, appliances, etc.).  As of February, 2019 the Town offers residents the option of setting up a Refuse District for their neighborhood.  For complete details, visit our Refuse District Information web page.

Does Pittsford recycle?

Under county and town law residents are required to recycle newsprint, glass and plastic materials.

Do I need to register in the town to contract to citizens?

Firms or corporations conducting the business of plumbing within the town are required to obtain an annual plumbing license from the Code Enforcement Department prior to conducting such business. State and local regulations apply to all plumbing work, as well as installation, alteration or repair of wiring for electrical lights, heat or power and signal systems operating fifty (50) volts or more, in or on any real property within the town.
