"The Tiny Seed" Story Walk Begins This Monday

 
March 15 - 20  

The display will be up at Community Center through March 20.
The time is right for a nature story come to life – and some crafty fun! Stop by the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center up through this Saturday, March 20 and take a stroll through “The Tiny Seed” story walk in the Community Center field.

Learn about the life cycle of a seed and follow the journey of the tiny seed as it is carried from its flower by the autumn wind and travels around the world toward its destiny. An inspiring lesson about the importance of perseverance and hope. Participants are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines and bring a face mask to wear when within 6 feet of those outside of their group.
 
Once you have completed the walk, stop at the Community Center front desk and pick up a themed craft pack to take home! Craft packs are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 6:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am – 5:00pm.

"The Day it Rained Hearts" Story Walk Begins This Monday

 
February 8 - 13

The display will be up at Community Center through February 13.
The time is right for a winter story come to life – and some crafty fun! Stop by the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center up through this Saturday, February 13 and take a stroll through our “The Day it Rained Hearts” story walk in the Community Center field. Follow a sweet story of friendship and giving. One day it rains hearts of all shapes and sizes - each special in its own way. Cornelia Augusta catches them, realizes they are perfect for making valentines, and knows just who to give them to – her animal friends! Participants are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines and bring a face mask to wear when within 6 feet of those outside of their group.

Once you have completed the walk, stop at the Community Center front desk and pick up a themed craft pack to take home! Craft packs are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 6:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am – 5:00pm.

"The Snowy Day" Story Walk Begins This Monday

 
January 11 - 16

The display will be up at Community Center through January 16.
The time is right for a winter story come to life – and some crafty fun! Stop by the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center between January 11 - 16 and take a stroll through “The Snowy Day” story walk in the Community Center field. Follow the story of a young boy named Peter exploring his neighborhood after the season's first snowfall. This classic 1962 children's picture book shares a wonderful story and is the first picture book with an African American protagonist to win a major children’s award, the Caldecott Medal. Participants are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines and bring a face mask to wear when within 6 feet of those outside of their group.

Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony - CANCELED

 
Memorial Day Monday, May 25 – CANCELED
Out of concern for the health of their members and that of the public, the Pittsford American Legion Rayson-Miller Post 899 has canceled its Memorial Day Ceremony and, upon request from the American Legion, the Memorial Day Parade has been canceled as well. While the decision was necessary in light of COVID-19 coronavirus health and safety protocols, we understand and share the disappointment this news brings.

Food Truck Wednesdays at Thornell Farm Park

 
FALL DATES ADDED! Wednesdays, September 16 through October 21 – 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

NEW EVENT: FOOD TRUCK WEDNESDAYS AT THORNELL FARM PARK

Food Truck Wednesdays will be held each Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00pm (or until menu items are sold out), July 8 through October 21.
 
A different food truck will be featured each week offering items for sale at Thornell Farm Park. Vendors and menus will be listed in advance each week on the Pittsford Recreation Facebook page and in the Town eNews.  Find vendor descriptions for Fall 2020 here.
 
Be sure to join us - it’s a fun and easy dinner option! Park and get your food to go or eat in the green space with family and friends. Please note all attendees are expected to observe appropriate physical distancing and health safety protocols. Thornell Farm Park is located at 480 Mendon Road. Please note all attendees are expected to observe appropriate physical distancing and health safety protocols - face coverings are required when placing and picking up your order. Halloween Spooktacular Drive-In Movie and Costume Parade 2020

Saturday, October 17
Sutherland High School Parking Lot, featuring The Addams Family (rated PG)
Parking lot opens 5:30pm, Costume Parade at 6:00pm, movie will begin at dark. Free cider, doughnuts and Halloween goodie bags. Admission is free, however we ask that you bring one canned food item per person to benefit the Pittsford Food Cupboard.

Halloween “Room on the Broom” Story Walk

October 26 – 31
Held at the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center, 35 Lincoln Avenue. The story display is up continuously in the field; take-home craft packs are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 6:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am – 5:00pm at the Community Center front desk. A free, fun family stroll that follows the story of a kind witch and her cat as they travel on her broomstick – and invite others to tag along!

The time is right for a Thanksgiving story come to life – and some crafty fun! Stop by the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center between November 16 - 21 and take a stroll through our “Bear Says Thanks” story walk in the Community Center field. Follow the story of Bear and see what happens when he decides to throw a feast but his cupboards are bare! Discover the generosity of his friends and the special gift Bear has to share with them. Participants are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines and bring a face mask to wear when within 6 feet of those outside of their group.

Once you have completed the walk, stop at the Community Center front desk and pick up a themed craft pack to take home! Craft packs are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 6:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am - 5:00pm.

Follow the story of Nicki, a young Ukrainian boy who has lost a mitten in the snow, and the animals who try to make a home of the mitten! Participants are asked to follow physical distancing guidelines and bring a face mask to wear when within 6 feet of those outside of their group.
