Comprehensive Plan | 2009 Update
Kick-off Meeting
The kick-off public workshop for the town's 2009 Comprehensive Plan took place on January 26, 2009 at the Pittsford Community Library, from 7 to 9pm. The workshop provided an opportunity to both review accomplishments from the town's 1995 comprehensive plan and begin to identify the issues and opportunities that should be explored in the 2009 comprehensive plan. Most of all, the workshop provided an opportunity for town residents to come together to share ideas and engage in a community dialogue.
Meeting Synopsis
Approximately 100 individuals participated in the workshop, bringing to the table a range of knowledge, viewpoints, and interests. The workshop began with a presentation (link below). Following the presentation, workshop participants divided into four smaller breakout groups for a more focused discussion on three topic areas:
- Land Use and Zoning
- Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Sidewalks
- Transportation
For each topic area, participants brainstormed both issues and opportunities that the town should address in the 2009 comprehensive plan. All comments were welcomed and recorded with markers on large notepads, including ideas that did not easily fit into the three above topic areas. At the conclusion of the brainstorming session, participants in the four breakout groups reconvened to report back the highlights of their brainstorming session to the larger group.
At the conclusion of the brainstorming session, each breakout group posted their brainstorming notes along the walls of the meeting space. Workshop participants were then asked to affix their sticker dots to those ideas or comments that they felt were most important.
Record of Comments
Comments received at this workshop were recorded and compiled according to the three topic areas noted above. These comments, along with all comments received at subsequent public meetings and comments submitted in writing and email, can be viewed by clicking the link.
